GET STARTED NOWImportant Alert: Scam Using Our Name
We’ve recently learned that a company is contacting people and falsely using the name American Financial Solutions to promote “student loan forgiveness” or “debt discharge” services.
Please know: this is not us. These messages are a scam.
At American Financial Solutions, we do provide student loan counseling—but we do not promise loan forgiveness or guarantee discharge programs. Our certified counselors help clients:
If someone contacts you claiming they are American Financial Solutions and offers “special access” to forgiveness, reduction, or discharge of loans, do not share your personal information. Here are some additional warning signs of a student loan scams.
1. They Promise “Immediate Forgiveness”
No company can guarantee that your student loans will be wiped out overnight. Forgiveness and discharge programs exist, but they are run by the U.S. Department of Education and require specific eligibility.
2. Asking for a Fee to Discharge Debts
If someone is asking you to pay them, in order to discharge or forgive the student loan debt, it is a scam.
3. They Pretend to Be from the Government
Scammers often use official-sounding names or logos. Always check that you are on a .gov website for federal student loan information.
4. They Pressure You to “Act Fast”
Scammers create urgency: “Apply today or you’ll miss out!” Legitimate repayment options do not expire overnight. You have time to review your choices.
5. They Ask for Your FSA ID or Login
Never give out your Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID, password, or Social Security Number to an unsolicited caller or email. Your FSA ID is like your signature—if someone else has it, they can take control of your account.
