Post Bankruptcy Education

Please review and accept the disclosures outlined below:

American Financial Solutions has over 15 years of experience educating consumers and clients about money and credit.    This agency is a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC).   The NFCC has high standards for quality credit counseling and financial education, and this agency complies with those standards.  In addition, this agency is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) an independent third-party organization that reviews and monitors entities that provide social services.  We are a non-profit agency.  We are organized and operate in accordance with Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

We offer Money in Motion, our bankruptcy and community education program, online.  A certified consumer credit counselor or teacher will oversee the Money in Motion classes.   Our instructors have completed the certification program offered by the NFCC. Our instructors cannot provide you with legal advice.  Students, please email any questions you have regarding Money in Motion to questions@americanfinancialsolutions.org.  You will receive a response to your questions within 24 business hours.

Upon the completion of Money in Motion, AFS has an obligation to promptly provide the certificate.  AFS will provide this certificate no later than 3 business days from the completion of the instructional course.  You will only receive this certificate if you complete the entire program. At the end of the instruction, there will be a test to evaluate your understanding of the material. If you do not achieve at least 70% on the final test,  your counselor will review the questions you missed to ensure you understand them.  You will need to provide us with your bankruptcy case number for this certificate.

We will ask you to voluntarily fill out basic demographic information.  We will not disclose any such information that you provide orally or in writing to anyone, except as authorized by you in writing or as required by law, such as a response to a subpoena or the United States Trustee in their oversight of this agency during the investigation of complaints, during on-site visits or during quality service reviews.  We may compile data in aggregate form; however, your information will not be disclosed in any manner that would personally identify you.

AFS charges a fee for post-bankruptcy education which includes issuance of the certificate of compliance.  The fee is $30 per person, or per married couple filing jointly, which includes the cost of generating the certificate.  The fee is payable by debit card online. If you need to pay by money order please call 800-894-7240 for instructions on how to proceed.  We do not accept personal checks. You may be eligible for a waiver of this fee based on your lack of ability to pay.  A waived fee is based on 150% of poverty guidelines updated periodically by the US Department of Health and Human Services. You can check to see if you qualify for a fee waiver by filling out the fields in the box at the bottom of this page.  If this shows that you qualify for a fee waiver please call 800-894-7240.

If you are a married couple filing a joint bankruptcy, you may register for the course together.  You will receive separate USER ID’s and Passwords, and each of you must individually complete the required education course in its entirety and complete the final test.  If you do not get 70% on the final exam, your counselor will review the questions you missed to ensure you understand them.
